RISING STAR PREPARATORY/ JHS

The school which will be twenty-Eight (28) years, was established on the 7th of October, 1991 with fourteen (14) pupils who were housed in a long wooden structure divided into two (2) classrooms. Two (2) teachers and an attendant were initially employed.
The establishment of the school was conceived by Mr. Alfred Otoo Anang, the Founder and sole Proprietor. He is a trained teacher by profession. He, having learnt with great concern the manner in which parents struggled to send their wards to the more endowed schools at for places like Osu, Cantonments, Achimota and other places, perceived that, the time for his vision to start a school with a high academic excellence was long overdue. Hence, the birth of Risings star preparatory and Junior High school located near Teshie Baptist Church. The motto of the school is ‘’with God all things all possible’’.
As an educationists, he also realized that by this vision, he would meaningfully be contributing his quota to the community and the country as a whole.
The prime motive of the school is to give the children the expected high moral values coupled with qualitative academic tuition to meet their future aspirations in conducive and congenial environment.
The school has three (3) departments namely; Pre-school, Primary and JHS with a population of Four Hundred and seventy – five (475) pupils. The school has qualified, dedicated, committed and highly motivated teachers.
Teaching and non- teaching staff of thirty- three (33) members are headed by a head teacher, an assistant and a supervisor
In term of infrastructure or facilities there are;
1. Thirteen (13) well ventilated classrooms.
2. An office complex.
3. A staff common room.
4. Durable furniture in all classrooms.
5. A kitchen (where lunch is prepared)
6. Modern restrooms.
7. An ultra-Modern computer laboratory with N-computing.
8. A very big well for storage of water.
9. A very big polytank donated by the P.T.A.
10. A well-furnished library with modern books.
11. A well- equipped science laboratory.
12. Modern size basketball court.
13. Two (2) luxurious school buses for picking of pupils.
For co-curricular activities, we have the Army cadet corps, Brass band, Cultural group, Choreography, piano, Atentenben, French club etc.
Security wise, the school is well fenced with gates. Pupils are not allowed to go out till closing. Security guards are always at post everyday including weekends.
The management and administration of the school is well structured and the vibrant parent Association (P.T.A) contributes its quota.
Successes chalked by the school since its establishment is a common knowledge to the town’s folks.
Its BECE results since the inception of the JHS have been excellent with 100% passes and currently, the school is rated as one of the best in Teshie.
The school which has celebrated a number of anniversaries; 5th, 10th, 15th and 20th and were memorable, had her 25th (silver jubilee) anniversary in 2016 with a touch of class with most of her products in attendance.
Products of the school are either the best or amongst the best when the searchlight of public scrutiny is placed on them.
Some are doctors, accountants, engineers, insurance brokers, lawyers, military or police officers, nurses, teachers and many more.
Most of them are in the universities and other tertiary institutions.
At the secondary level, most are in the well-endowed schools like Wesley girls, Mfantsipim, Adisadel, Legon Presec, St Roses, Holy child, Aggrey Memorial, Pope johns etc.
The Management has not rested on its oars but has planned to put up a boarding facility to house the final year students in the near future to attain greater heights.
